The Hyundai was driven by 18-year-old Aparicio Martin-Bartolome of Seymour. The two vehicles collided nearly head-on in the southbound lane before both vehicles left the roadway.

Several people were injured in the crash and transported to hospitals for medical treatment.

A 17-year-old Columbus girl who was driving the Pontiac was taken to an Indianapolis-area hospital with serious injuries. Martin-Bartolome was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital, while a 15-year-old juvenile passenger in the rear seat of the Hyundai was also transported to an Indianapolis-area hospital.
